A Canadian education offer is only one part of a study-permit application. Students applying from Bangladesh should verify the designated learning institution, exact campus and programme, letter of acceptance, provincial or territorial attestation requirement and current proof-of-funds rules. The information below is current as of October 2026 and must be checked again before submission.
Confirm the LOA and designated learning institution
A post-secondary study-permit application needs a letter of acceptance from a designated learning institution. Check the institution and exact campus on IRCC’s live DLI list. If post-graduation work eligibility matters to your plan, check the current rules for the specific programme separately; DLI status alone does not make every programme eligible. Review tuition, refund terms, start date and conditions before paying a deposit.
Check whether you need a PAL or TAL
Most applicants must include a provincial or territorial attestation letter with the study-permit application, unless an official exemption applies. Quebec generally uses a Quebec Acceptance Certificate for this purpose. From 1 January 2026, students entering eligible master’s or doctoral degree programmes at public DLIs are among the published PAL or TAL exemptions. Do not assume an exemption from the programme name alone—match the institution and degree to the current IRCC wording.
Proof of funds as of October 2026
For applications made on or after 1 September 2026, IRCC lists CAD 23,448 for one applicant’s first-year living expenses outside Quebec, excluding tuition and transportation. Family-member amounts differ, and Quebec has separate rules. You must show enough for tuition, living expenses and travel without relying on work in Canada. Accepted evidence can include qualifying bank records, education loans, proof of paid tuition or housing, a Canadian bank account or other documents listed by IRCC.
- Explain the lawful source and availability of funds.
- Use consistent names, relationships, dates and balances.
- IRCC may request bank statements for the past six months and other evidence.
- Use the Bangladesh visa-office instructions for country-specific documents.
Prepare a coherent study-permit application
IRCC assesses admissibility and whether you meet the study-permit requirements, including whether you will leave Canada when your authorised stay ends. Use accurate documents and explain why the programme is a logical next step. Biometrics, a medical examination, police information or additional documents may be requested. Never submit altered financial or academic evidence.
How Thinkoogram helps
Thinkoogram can help students in Bangladesh compare programmes, verify DLI details, identify the PAL or TAL question, organise genuine documents and build a dated funds checklist. We do not guarantee admission, a PAL or TAL, a study permit or future work eligibility. The institution, province or territory and IRCC make those decisions.
Frequently asked questions.
What is a PAL or TAL?
It is a provincial or territorial attestation letter confirming that an applicant is accounted for within the relevant allocation. Most applicants need one unless exempt.
Are public-university master’s students exempt in 2026?
From 1 January 2026, eligible master’s and doctoral degree students at public DLIs are among IRCC’s published exemptions. Verify the exact programme and current rule.
How much living money must one applicant show?
For applications on or after 1 September 2026, IRCC lists CAD 23,448 outside Quebec, excluding tuition and transport. Recheck before applying.
Does a DLI automatically make a programme PGWP-eligible?
No. Check the current PGWP rules for the exact institution, campus, programme and study level.
Can expected work income replace proof of funds?
No. IRCC says applicants must show enough money without working in Canada.
