English requirements are set by institutions and may also be affected by professional accreditation or visa rules. The required overall score, component minimums, test type and validity period can all matter.
Check four separate questions
- Which tests and test versions does the institution accept?
- What overall score is required?
- Are there minimum scores for reading, writing, listening or speaking?
- Does the visa route apply a separate English requirement or exemption?
Plan for timing
Choose a test date that allows results to arrive before the application or confirmation deadline. Leave room for preparation and a possible retake. Send results only through the method requested by the institution.
No universal conversion promise
Score-comparison tables can help with planning, but institutions decide what they accept. Confirm the exact course requirement in writing when the website is unclear.
