The UK maintenance amount changes for Student route applications made from 30 November 2026. The rates below are visa financial-evidence figures, not a complete living-cost budget. Your application date, location of study and any exemption determine what applies.
Two application-date windows
- Applications made before 30 November 2026: £1,529 per month in London or £1,171 per month outside London, for up to nine months.
- Applications made from 30 November 2026: £1,570 per month in London or £1,203 per month outside London, for up to nine months.
- For nine months, the change is £369 more in London or £288 more outside London.
- Use the Student Tools calculator to convert both totals with a current GBP-to-BDT rate.
The 28-day holding period creates an earlier planning date
Where financial evidence is required, the money normally must be held for 28 consecutive days. The end of that 28-day period must be within 31 days of the visa application. If you intend to submit before 30 November, the full required balance generally needs to begin its uninterrupted holding period by around 1 November or earlier. This is planning guidance—not a promise that an application can or should be rushed.
- Confirm that the CAS and all other required evidence can be ready in time.
- Do not move funds in a way that breaks the continuous holding period.
- Check whether an official financial sponsor, qualifying loan or an evidence exemption applies.
- Recheck the live GOV.UK page on the day the application is prepared.
Post 1 — compare the rate windows
Planning a UK Student visa application? The maintenance amount rises on 30 November 2026. For up to nine months, the current total is £13,761 in London or £10,539 outside London. From 30 November, it becomes £14,130 or £10,827. Check which application-date window applies to you.
Post 2 — understand the real planning deadline
The visa application date is not the day to start arranging funds. Where the 28-day rule applies, the full amount normally needs to remain in the account for 28 consecutive days first. A student targeting an application before 30 November should plan the balance and documents around early November, then confirm the exact dates.
Post 3 — convert carefully to BDT
A BDT headline can become stale quickly. Use Thinkoogram’s calculator with the current GBP rate from your bank or authorised provider to compare both UK maintenance-rate windows. Then add tuition and other real costs separately.
