Tuition is only one part of the cost. A useful budget combines published fees, living costs, visa and health charges, travel, accommodation deposits and a buffer—then converts each amount using a current rate you can verify.
Budget in layers
- Tuition: use the exact programme fee and note whether it is annual, per semester or for the complete course.
- Living costs: plan for housing, food, transport, utilities, telephone, study materials and personal spending.
- Set-up costs: include visa or Student Pass fees, health checks, insurance, biometrics where required, flights and an accommodation deposit.
- Buffer: exchange rates and charges move. Keep a clearly identified contingency instead of planning to the last taka.
Convert to BDT transparently
Use the budget calculator in the Student Tools page. Enter the official foreign-currency amount and the current exchange rate offered by your bank or authorised provider. The formula is simple: foreign amount × BDT exchange rate = estimated BDT cost.
- Record the date and source of the rate.
- Do not treat an online mid-market rate as a guaranteed bank transfer rate.
- Recalculate before any payment.
Compare like with like
When comparing two offers, use the same duration and include compulsory charges for both. A lower annual fee may not be lower overall if the course is longer or living costs are higher.
